HOT SPOTS
Although not allowed to extract the mineral waters from the ground anymore, the motel does still provide, free of charge, two hot pools. These are filled with clean town water (which comes from springs by the way), heated, filtered and chlorinated at a delicious 40 degrees Celsius. Guests are free to bathe when they are available between 8am & 8pm.
This wonderful geothermal golf course is a par 70 which plays harder than you think it will. Hot water lakes and streams, bubbling mud pots, undulating pumice fairways, and some quite stunning vistas make this links a real treat. The first tee is directly opposite the motel ,the clubhouse and pro shop are also very close.
Immediately adjacent to the motel is a Wild Bean cafe. This is heavily used by the motel’s guests, as is the convenience store within the service station. Its existence greatly improves the amenities of this motel.
If you take a short stroll along the road, and cross over it once at Te Puia’s overspill car park, you will find a large hot water lake with plenty of bubbling mud. Of course we recommend a visit to Te Puia if you wish to get up close with the two geysers, and experience Maori culture by seeing a show and the carving school.
A shorter stroll will find you at the thermal village, which is a fascinating blend of Maori culture and geothermal activity. A small community do live there among the steaming and bubbling vents and pots, and you must try the sweet corn cooked in that very steam.
The trails at Whakarewarewa are just a short drive or ride away. The facilities there are being developed all the time and include toilets, bike hire, and refreshments. The motel offers safe storage and cleaning facilities for it’s guests, who wish to use these world class trails.
This is advertised as a budget motel and that is what it is. It was great value for the $70 for the night. Very clean with crisp linen and comfortable bed. A small, basic bathroom with a good shower. Very nice new flat screen TV that could be angled so it could be seen form any part of the room. The best thing was the “Black Book” about Rotorua. It had places you could go to that were free for those on a limited budget but also plugged the local tourist activities. Tim was very friendly and nothing was any trouble. Also had free wifi. I’ll stay there again. ”
Very helpful and kind staff. Really very well informed and know the area. Clean and well supplied room, good internet, recommended!”
Well proportioned, nicely furnished comfortable rooms with well equipped kitchenette. Helpful hosts with lots of useful tourist advice. Laundry facilities available. Excellent free wi-fi • Recommend”
Good value for money. Good facilities, kitchen equipment OK, what one would expect. Bed was clean and well made. No hassle. Easy parking.
Great location to see Rotorua. Just off the main road but not too noisy. We had a nice, comfortable room with plenty of space. Within walking distance of a Maori village and some geyser spots. Very good value.” Steven of Brighton UK
Adequate budget style accommodation in good location ~ ample off street parking ~ friendly hosts who offer assistance with local attractions and some discount vouchers
The host was really knowledgable about the local attractions, particularly the cultural shows, which we had come to see. The hotel is only a five minute walk from a thermal area. The hotel booklet in the room is the best I’ve seen, written in a very honest and informative style. If you read this first you can’t go wrong! The decor is dated, but as the booklet says, they are doing it up as they can afford, and everything was clean, functional and well maintained. It was good value for the price.
These largest studio units provide a kitchenette with fridge, toaster, microwave, sink, complimentary tea and coffee, ensuite bathroom with shower, direct dial telephone, free wireless internet, and 32 inch widescreen LCD TVs with digital Free View.

The motel is a short walk from both Te Puia and Whakarewarewa Maori thermal village. Arikikapakapa, Rotorua’s geothermal golf course, is directly opposite. From the upper level Pohutu Geyser is visible when erupting, and Lake Rotorua can be seen in the distance.
The best Mountain biking in the country can be found just five minutes drive away. The motel offers storage and cleaning facilities for its guests. Greenview Motel is the closest motel to these trails and is proving very popular with cyclists of all ages. Groups and clubs, from darts, to ten-pin bowling have taken advantage of good group rates for tournaments.
